Picture
If you are looking for extra income, or to work from home, you may want to consider teaching online.

There are many companies that provide a worth while income to people who are willing to teach their language to others.  Most companies provide training, teaching materials, and you are only required to speak your language.  Remember, teaching experience can come from places other than a classroom. Experience can come from being a parent, tutoring, or even working at a daycare. You can do this!

Teaching online has become a reliable source of income that offers schedule flexibility, and the freedom for you to work from almost any location.

There are many companies available that offer online teaching opportunities. If you do not see something that works for you on this page, continue researching online. Stay encouraged. There is most likely a company out there that will fit your needs.

NO TEACHING CERTIFICATE? NO PROBLEM!

You can easily and quickly get an affordable teaching certificate at an online school like International Open Academy. You can receive a TESOL course discount here .

Groupon also offers a discount here  for a 120 hour TESOL Course.  The Certificate of completion is provided immediately after you complete the course. (The course took me about three hours to finish.)

Here are some companies that either I, or my friends recommend.

1. VIPKID  VIPKID was rated #5 in FORBES Top 100 companies for remote jobs. VIPKID is a great company for new and seasoned ESL teachers that enjoy working with children.

There is an excellent support system, a library full of helpful resources, training courses to help  you "up" your teaching game, and a strong online community.
VIPKID also has a location in the United States as well as China, so you will often deal with native English speakers.

Tax documents are provided for you each year, unlike some other out of country ESL companies.  Scripted lesson plans are provided for you.  You can set your own schedule, and continue to be employed even if you are deciding not to work for a period of time.

Most students consistently want classes on weekdays between 6am to 9am EST.,  but some students will take classes outside of those hours.  Weekend evening hours are often available.
Pay is up $22 and hour, which is based on your experience and interview.  (If you don't pass your 1st interview, they may give you a second chance!)  VIPKID hires English speakers from mainly Canada or America (you do not have to live in North America at time of hire).

You must have a Bachelors degree or higher, and a teaching certificate (Teacher's License, TESOL Certification, TEFL Certification).  You also must have a good internet connection, an updated computer, and headset (you can do interview with earbuds).

You can teach from an iPad once you're hired, but you need a computer to complete the interview process.

I personally really enjoy working with VIPKID.  Check out VIPKID here.
2. DaDa DaDa (DADA ABC) pays up to $25 an hour.  Your pay is determined on your experience, and how well you do during your interview. DADA connects ESL teachers with students in China and Hong Kong.

After applying and interviewing, DaDa will ask you to teach a few trial classes.  DaDa asks that you commit to a 6 or 12-month contract.  It is required that you teach at least two hours per day at a minimum of two days per week. Lesson plans are provided, however, lessons are not as scripted as VIPKID. DADA does provided training. This company does hire non North American English speakers.  Personally, my base pay was less with this company that VIPKID.
